On Fire: The Racist Anti-Racists at MTV News

It’s only the second week of 2017, but it’s already been a banner year for preening liberals on cable TV who are hell-bent on self-immolation in the name of proving everyone else’s moral inferiority.

To use young people’s slang these days, you’re “lit,” media progressives. But not in a good way.

On Tuesday, just before the confirmation hearing for Attorney General nominee and Alabama GOP Sen. Jeff Sessions kicked off, an MTV News reporter demonstrated his high and mighty commitment to racial tolerance … by mocking Sen. Sessions’ half-Asian granddaughter. Sessions’ daughter, Ruth, is married to Asian-American John Walk. They have four girls.

Upon spotting Sessions with one of his multiracial granddaughters sitting on his lap as he waited for the proceedings to begin, MTV News “culture writer” Ira Madison III tweeted a photo of them and snarked:

“Sessions, sir, kindly return this Asian baby to the Toys ‘R’ Us you stole her from.”

So much for liberals celebrating diversity. So much for Michelle Obama’s rallying cry to the left that “our motto is, when they go low, we go high.”

Madison sneered that Sessions’ granddaughter was a “prop” and that there was “no reason for that child to be in his lap in a hearing other than to send an ‘I’m not racist message.'” Even after being informed that the beautiful little girl was Sessions’ biological grandchild, Madison continued to attack — accusing conservative critics of having “long used Asian-Americans as ‘model minorities’ since the rise of the (C)ivil (R)ights (A)ct.” He further justified his bigotry by accusing Sen. Sessions of “horrendous anti-black behavior” and snidely dismissed the senator’s “love for an Asian family member.”

What better way to send an “I’m not racist message” than to double down on the revolting dehumanization of the family members of one’s political opponents?

MTV News, which touts itself as the “conversation authority for the millennial audience,” has become the Sideshow Bob of the internet. Like the hapless character in “The Simpsons” cartoon series who can’t stop stepping on rakes and smashing in his face, this supposed “music” network keeps veering into the social justice lane — and causing bloody self-harm. (Fun fact: Bigot Ira Madison, who purports to protest bigotry by practicing it, pens a column called “Delete Your Account,” poking fun at social media blunders by public figures.)

Before Christmas, the same MTV News division that employs Madison aired a sanctimonious video titled “2017 Resolutions for White Guys.” Reeking of extremist identity politics, a parade of smarmy millennials lectures every last white man on the planet to “try to recognize that America was never great for anyone who wasn’t a white guy.” While assailing “mansplaining,” the cast proceeds to MTVsplain that “Black Lives Matter isn’t the opposite of All Lives Matter. (…) Also, Blue Lives Matter isn’t a thing.”

Swamped by mockery on both sides of the aisle, MTV deleted the condescending video, but apparently not the condescending attitude.

We’ve seen it before in cable TV news. Former MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry indulged in holier-than-thou anti-racism racism when she openly mocked Mitt Romney’s black adopted grandson in 2013 and laughed with other MSNBC commentators at a sweet holiday photo of the devout Mormon’s large family.

And MSNBC was forced to apologize again in 2014 after conservative multiracial parents, including me, battled the network’s vile racism slurring “rightwing” Americans as intolerant of biracial families featured in a Cheerios ad.

Responding to those of us who refused to tolerate their prejudice disguised as tolerance, MSNBC commentator Richard Wolffe insisted at the time: “That’s not who we are.”

We see you for exactly who you are: Flaming hypocrites who can’t help themselves. Stay lit!

Well done! Keep bashing the imbecile hypocrites.

  • SammysDad

I just love it. The libs have gone off full cocked, screaming, mocking, yelling, bullying, obstructing, lying, threatening, and everything else in between. They just can’t understand why they lost, so they are exploding like fireworks going every which way in hopes of hitting on something. So far, and probably to continue, they will be missing their objective and prove to the rest of America that they are impossibly lost in a mental quagmire of despair.

    • Bill Von Gremp

And with the left media there to amplify their craziness the public is seeing firsthand what kind of bullet they missed by not electing yet another Progressive President.

    • Wayne Peterkin

My hope is that they, the left, are destroying their own cause in the process. That others seeing the madness, the irrational insanity of the left since the election, will reject it never wanting to be associated with that evil. They may be self-destructing, which is the best we can hope for.

  • Ron C

Just remember folk’s the evil people always try to deflect their disgusting deeds on to good people…That pretty much describes the democrat parties follower’s.

  • Loretta

Liberals are like people who walk around all day with a mirror infront of their face. What they see in others is really a reflection of themselves. So when they accuse others of their familiar rants is really what they see in themselves. As long as they have this mirror they will never change because they can’t see the real world

    • mikinzla

And, like ANY addiction, they will NEVER stop, until they go crazy, or go dead.

  • Luther R. Norman

So called liberals are very quick now to pass judgement on ‘moral’ shortcomings of others to build themselves up. Is this fun (for them) or who’s upstaging, whom with more moral immolation?

  • Displaying that child was, indeed, a constructed photo op to counter the charges of racism. On that level, it is disgusting. Strip away the dripping acrimony from Ira Madison, and he is “correct.”

This is the tragedy: a picture had to be created. A person’s statement that they treat everyone equal is not going to do it. Pointing out that past actions were not racist is not going to do it. You have to flaunt visual propaganda, such as this.

Responsibility for this state of affairs is on those who see racism, sexism, and classism in everything, and attack from that POV. Ira Madison is one of those people.

    • Moki

A very thoughtful response, John. I hope Jeff Sessions is confirmed. I am certain that he is not a racist, and we need to put an end to the leftist, progressive, anti-conservative politicization of the Justice Department. Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch were anti-American, anti-Constitution, leftist and progressive political hacks. The damage they did, or tried to do, to American justice needs to be undone.

    • mikinzla

Addicts always have an addicted argument to fall back on… I’m sure if Sessions held a rag doll, you would find it “correct” to condemn it as an affront to the straw man in “Wizard of Oz”.

      • Sorry, I don’t understand you point. Please restate it a different way.

        • mikinzla

maybe I should have directed it to that racist Jew, Ira Madison

  • Sasha

It seems now the people at large have finally developed hearing for the hypocrisy of the left. If nothing else comes out Trump election victory but the shattering of this presumed superiority all things left that already would be enough.

  • Another Guest

    Well said Michelle.

  • Michael Noone

The term “liberal” no longer applies, and hasn’t for the last 40 years. They are the most arrogant, head strong, intolerant bunch on the planet.

  • wyatt81

These arrogant hypocritical a-holes deserve nothing but contempt-and a good ass kicking on top it. If could you catch the little weasels as they ran for cover, whimpering.

  • Broz

It’s time for the leftists to pay in rivers of blood for their treason against both the United states of America and humanity as a whole!!!

    • Jared

Treason? That’s a pretty specific accusation. You must have some specific evidence then right? I’d think the president selling out American interests to the Russians and colluding with an enemy of state specifically meet that definition. So Trump is at least under reasonable suspicion of being a traitor. You have anything remotely that good on “leftists”?

  • Jared

No irony whatsoever in convicting an entire demographic for the crimes of the individual. Finding the worst thing said by someone you call the enemy, and then attributing that to everyone else you call the enemy isn’t actually a valid point of any kind, and simply demonstrates the hypocritical fondness Malkin and most of the commenters I’ve read on here have for generalizing about whole groups and letting this color their opinion of individual people who share similar beliefs.

It would be irresponsible to say you’re all misogynistic pussy grabbing monuments to the worst behaviors of humankind and pathologically incapable of being honest. All certainly true about Trump, but unfair to extrapolate even though it has thus far proven 100% accurate down to the individual. I wouldn’t want to make that kind of admission about my lack of ethics or intellect so publicly, but you are the ones with the mandate, and the kindergarten argument “I know you are, but what am I?”. Yeah, be proud, sure showed us progressives how to hypocrite the right way. Why do you all despise logic so much? Because you were expected to demonstrate it as a child and failed so hard that making a good point triggers your PTSD and must be avoided at all costs? Working hypothesis, I’ll modify it if even one conservative can demonstrate through use of verifiable fact that their alternative has more merit. So I’m thinking I won’t have to update it most likely.

    • Vernon Brickey

      wtf?

      • Jared

Cogent retort Vernon. Closest thing yet to a reasoned counter argument. Still a trillion miles from it, but baby steps, right?

    • You admit it’s unfair to extrapolate, then you say you don’t need to extrapolate, because you have proof that 100% of a set of individuals is guilty of worst human behavior and pathological dishonesty. And are misogynistic.

That’s a pretty complicated maneuver. I am terrified your rhetoric is getting twisted around your eyeballs. I would feel relief from worrying about you if you would please submit the list of every individual subsumed in your claim, and supply the proof of their misogyny, ill-behavior and pathological dishonesty. Then I would know you are not strangling yourself.

      • Jared

Silence is implied consent. And evidently reading comprehension is not a skill you’ve honed to a fine point which will unfortunately mean you fail to get the gist of things a lot. Explains the bitterness and compassion free cynicism you seem proud of for reasons I can’t fathom. I didn’t extrapolate anything, simply cited my personal anecdotal experience which is sort of entirely different from generalizing in every way. And while you’ve characteristically presented me with a task both impossible to complete and topically unnecessary, I’m sure it feels like you are using logic and being consistent. Thing is we can check that out to be sure, speculation isn’t necessary. The fact that you accused me of doing pretty much the exact opposite of what I did by any objective standard demonstrates your difficult relationship with consistently applied logic in political dialogue. I know it’s frustrating, I keep giving you valid points in a language you can’t speak (logic), and sadly it’s the only one that honestly resolves or mitigates human suffering.

        • After the laughter subsided, I have to say, I’m with Vernon Brickey on this. WTFlyingF?

          • Jared

I can’t keep propping up your end of the debate, simplistic and lacking in detail or nuance though it may be. I still find it tedious to explain basic logical points to people who deliberately fail to understand them. I get it, you’re selfish and kind of evil and too afraid of
what that means to just own it, so you feign ignorance, sidestep every obliteration of your silly commentary, pretend your glaring contradictions were missed by your opponent, rather than printed out on poster board and magnified 100 times so that at least those watching know your lies fooled nobody, and when predictably beaten like a rented mule and having zero case to make, pretend that shaking your head and saying wtf? is a reasonable statement and demonstration of your superior position. Who do you think you’re fooling though? Even stupid people can see the contradictions, but like a ravenous blinder wearing football fan with limited thinking skills you all resemble to uncanny degrees, you will tell everyone the bullshit penalty that went your way was truly the right call, because somehow admitting to the truth that you’re vulnerable makes you a target. This is probably true, but only from other people like you. Those of us who aren’t married to a prescripted set of immutable values actually appreciate the qualities you fear to show and instead ridicule like some self hating bigot persecuting their own kind. Actually forget the simile, it’s not a parallel analogue but an evident condition; you quack like self hating bigots who persecute their own kind. Perhaps you just seem like exactly that and no other thing, but at a certain point it stops mattering whether you’re inhabiting the part or inventing it, your behavior is relentlessly destructive, negative, cynical, short sighted, and selfish in the most shameful sense of the word. You, the party of “let ’em die!” which is the closest thing you have to actual policy, have declared compassion a weakness and sharing a mortal sin. Why try to paint yourselves as the good guys? Nobody thinks of you that way. Except maybe Gary Oldman. I guess embracing your evilness would be honest and you guys really don’t want to set
that precedent right? People might eventually hold you accountable for the suffering you cause through your love of wealth and disdain for those who don’t worship it. But you guys worry too much. People don’t expect you to behave like christians even though you all pretend to believe. Why would they expect you to care about others all on your own just cuz you were forced to do it once to promote a cover story? Man these aren’t rhetorical questions, but you’ll pretend they are probably. Wtf indeed.

          • Thank you for your post. I now understand part of it. Could you explain more?

          • Jared

Why don’t you let me know which parts you think you think you grok’d and which you needed help with?

          • Take your first sentence, for instance:
“No irony whatsoever in convicting an entire demographic for the crimes of the individual.”

I grok you are attacking someone for convicting an entire demographic for the crimes of the individual, without using irony. I grok that much.

However, you don’t say to whom this is addressed, nor on what demographic, nor what criminal individual. You don’t give facts and attributions.

            Could you clarify, please.

          • Jared

Oh boy, I see this is going to be tough to explain, because your question reveals that you’re already in the habit of missing basic and broadly understood protocols that would’ve answered this for you, but here goes: this is a comments section underneath a (total hack) journalist’s indefensible and deliberately obtuse article, one that is arguing that liberals are the real racists, her rationale being that it’s so unusual to see non-whites at conservative functions, and such a common practice of organizers to find the few who are and get them on camera, that when a reporter sees a conservative using their own mixed race family in the same way, he felt compelled to point it out, and mistakenly presumed they weren’t related which was likely because he didn’t want to think someone would be so shallow as to exploit their grandkids in this manner, rather than what the author implied which is that the reporter didn’t think white conservatives could genetically have babies with minorities (just so you don’t get another unkind belief in your head, the fact that they can marry and procreate with minorities doesn’t mean they aren’t super racist) which is something so stupid conservatives don’t even attempt to pretend it’s true.

So the reporter is a racist for presuming the mixed race kids on the conservative’s lap posing for photo time weren’t part of his family. So ok that’s not actually how racism is defined under any context, but leaving that aside to get back to your question, my comment was obviously directed at the hack journalist. You can tell this precisely because it isn’t addressed to anyone else, and again, it’s in the comments section under an article. Who the fuck else would I be talking to? And in no way did I attack a whole group for her actions, I queried her alone. In the article she uses the reporter’s error as evidence that all liberals are the true racists, and then trashes Michelle Obama for absolutely no no reason, to boot. She’s a bully and a bad writer and in this case full of shit as well, so I pointed out how calling all liberals racist because of one nohhrbu racist) thing one person who is probably liberal did is prejudicial and the exact same kind of stupid and unfair practice that racism is. She tried to show how open minded y’all are by making an inaccurate statement about how closed minded we are, based on a single event she partially witnessed and didn’t understand, involving one person and little or no discernible racism of any kind.

So there you are, I did none of what you accused me of, and I wrote in a manner that was fairly straightforward and tried to avoid ambiguity, and the address to the author should have been assumed by all who read it, given the context I wrote it in. So I just obliterated your entire point, hopefully you grok this time. More remedial guidance I can

          • cillemall

You are obviously a paid troll as I can see through your psycho-babble, meandering about nothing. A thousand words of tripe are a direct result of your dystopian views and values.

  • Jared

Just one more observation/inquiry that will likely fly over everyone’s head, but is the obsessive devotion to platitudes and the categorical absence of examples to support your extreme accusations a conscious thing? I mean are you aware when you smear rhetorical feces all over the internet that you can’t cite anything to back it up? Or do you actually think your bromides are self evident and require no proof of any kind? Especially if they rhyme? Just wondering if evil or intellect-poor is the primary zeitgeist at work here.

  • jfl

If such a comment was made by a conservative, the liberals would be clamoring for Ira Madison III to be fired!

  • rednig

Neolibs, the same people who ignored thousands of Native Americans starving to death in the 90s, ignore half a million slaves in this county as low-priority, and embrace nazism but aren’t bright enough to understand they are Nazis. But, the sweet scent of nickles in the sewer makes them drool. Greedy, bigoted, and spiteful, it’s dnc/kkk=nazi party usa.

  • Wayne Peterkin

No one on the right is capable of going lower than those on the left.

  • Juan Miyar

Liberals? They are not “liberals” any more. They are fascist, radical, racist, leftist globalists whose main interest in life is to accuse, discredit, defame and deride anything and anybody who does not think like them. It is not possible to discuss anything with these people or to try to negotiate or compromise with them. They can’t live in the same space with us, and we can’t we live with them any more. This matter will have to be resolved soon; otherwise, it doesn’t look well for peace in this country any more.
